Dedicated gym members in Doncaster have raised an impressive £1,373 for St John’s Hospice after taking part in a gruelling fitness challenge.

The four-hour Erg-a-thon at Everyday Athlete Club on Cherry Lane brought together 24 teams, with participants pushing themselves through a marathon on a variety of fitness machines, including the skier, rowing machine, exercise bike and echo bike.
The challenge tested strength, stamina and determination, with every metre covered helping to raise vital funds for St John’s Hospice in Balby.
St John’s Hospice Palliative Care Nursing Assistant, Sam Purdy, who took part in the event said:
“This was an incredible team effort, and I’m so proud of everyone who took part.
“Around 60 people joined us on the day, and there was such a fantastic sense of support throughout. When participants started to tire, others stepped in to encourage them.
“My daughter Emily and her friend Aria kindly helped by collecting donations, and we were absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity people showed, both on the day and through our JustGiving page. We never imagined we would raise so much money.”
Jenny Baynham, Hospice Fundraising Manager said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Sam, Kyle and Row from Everyday Athlete Club and everyone who took part for organising this fantastic challenge.
“Raising such an amazing amount is a wonderful achievement and shows the incredible support we receive from our local community. Every donation will help us continue supporting patients and families cared for by St John’s Hospice.”
