Maddie skydives in memory of grandad

The sky was the limit when a daredevil teenager from Thorne jumped out a plane to raise funds for St John’s Hospice.

Maddie Jones (17) who is serving an apprenticeship with Aldi Stores raised £535 when she completed a 15,000 foot tandem skydive in June, achieving a lifelong dream in memory of her grandad Dave Jones.

Maddie said: “After my grandad passed away, I received bereavement counselling from the team at St John’s Hospice, so this was my way of giving something back to say thank you.”

She added: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me and to my family and boyfriend Kai for supporting me on the day. We had a long wait to get up in the plane as the weather was very wet.

“I’m so pleased I was able to take part and will remember the experience forever!”
