Youngsters from across Doncaster are being invited to bring along their favourite cuddly toy and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon in support of their local hospice charity.

St John’s Hospice in Balby will host a Teddy Bears’ Picnic in its beautiful Memory Garden, adjacent to St John’s Information and Support Centre, on Wednesday 5 August, from midday to 2pm.
The family-friendly event will feature games, story time and entertainment for children, with all proceeds helping to raise vital funds for the hospice charity.
Maureen Harwood, Hospice Fundraiser, said:
“With the school holidays around the corner, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to invite some of our younger supporters and their families to get involved while helping to raise money for our charity.
“Families are welcome to bring their own picnics and blankets and enjoy an afternoon of fun. We’ll provide the entertainment, along with free soft drinks and fresh fruit for everyone taking part.
“There’ll also be a special story featuring our very own teddy bear, hospice mascot John the Bear!”
Admission costs £2 per child, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Maureen added:
“We’re keen to make this an affordable event for local families while also supporting a great cause. Every penny raised will go towards helping our hospice charity continue its important work.”
