Over 100 members of the local community gathered on Wednesday 3 December at Alder Grove Methodist Church in Balby for the third annual Light Up a Life event, which raised £2,408 in support of St John’s Hospice.
This year’s event was held in an exciting new venue, kindly hosted at Alder Grove Methodist Church, thanks to RDaSH Chaplain June Rutherford, with refreshments provided by Flourish Enterprises. Attendees were invited to dedicate lights in memory of loved ones, while enjoying beautiful performances from The Feelgood Singers, pianist Ian Wilkinson, and piper Ian Ashley, creating a heartfelt and uplifting atmosphere throughout the evening.
Special thanks go to the volunteers who helped make the event possible. A group of volunteers from Sober Social spent the day before tidying and manicuring the church grounds, while a team from Nationwide travelled from across the UK to assist on the night and with clearing up the following day.
Hospice Fundraising Manager Jenny Baynham said:
“We would like to thank everyone who attended and supported our Light Up a Life event. The generosity shown on the night and the kind words we have received mean a great deal to our team, and the funds raised will help make a real difference to the patients and families we care for.”
